IRC Welcome Center needs

Winter clothing is particularly needed.

The drop off location in Phoenix (Tues-Sun 2:00 PM- 8:00 PM is:

Summary of Current Donation Needs

1.   Winter Clothing for men, women and children

            -     XS, S and Medium sizes needed for the adults

            -     Coats, sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves, pants, women’s leggings

 2.   Shoes and socks / Underwear

 3.   Carry on size luggage / travel bags / duffle bags / adult backpacks / other bags for holding papers and other items

 4.   Diapers, wipes, formula, warm baby clothes

 5.   Travel size blankets 

 

Warm clothing drives can be done within the faith communities. Church or other organizational or neighbor-to-neighbor drives would be very helpful!   Alternative:  Money donations that can be used to purchase needed items, including at thrift stores. 

 

Summary of Current Volunteer Needs   

  • Afternoon volunteers, starting at 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. It will really help to have groups of 2-4 people for 3-4 hours. The biggest needs are in the Ropa Room and shower area (directing traffic) and filling out the travel forms. No need to speak Spanish although it is helpful.   • Volunteers to serve meals on Sundays.

     

  • If a congregation wants to host a family for the long term, the WC now has a hosting process to screen hosts and get them started. Maria Jose is leading that Mariajose.pinzon@rescue.org

     

  • Lactation support: Haitian Creole volunteers or other experienced volunteers are needed to support the Haitian new moms and other new moms.

     

  • Creole speakers and Portuguese speakers to generally assist.

The WC has the following paid positions open:

  • Administrative position

  • Maintenance technician

  • Two overnight specialists
