Hope House of Sedona: September update

From Church of the Red Rocks UCC in Sedona:

In spite of the hot summer days and so many people having escaped to cooler climes, we continue to make progress with Hope House of Sedona. Following are some of the items we are currently addressing:

  • We filed our paperwork with the AZ Corporation Commission. Per their requirements, we have published our intentions twice in the Red Rock News with once more to go this week. Once that is completed, we will move forward with our application for 501(c)(3) status.

  • Now that the rush to complete the HUD application is over, we have had some time to address other issues, activating some of our teams: Building and Construction is researching housing to put on our property; Policies and Procedures is actively working on protocols for all aspects of running Hope House of Sedona; Fundraising will be meeting soon with Alice Ferris from GoalBusters in Flagstaff to launch a fundraising campaign. If you are interested in joining any of these teams, please let me know. We can always use more good people!

  • The flood plain study required by the City has been completed. We are good for the 100 year flood!

  • The Church of the Red Rocks collected money to purchase water for the homeless during this dangerous heat. We distributed gift cards for that purpose to agencies serving the homeless.

  • Please consider purchasing Bombas socks. Their philosophy is that for every pair of socks sold, a pair is given to a homeless person. Hope House of Sedona is collaborating with them and we have recently received 1500 pairs of socks. We distributed 600 of them so far.

  • We continue to reach out to other faith communities and organizations to educate and partner.

  • A big thank you to our volunteers who have spent countless hours working to make this dream for Sedona a reality.
