Antiracism Study Dialogue Circles (ASDIC)

The SWC and Antiracism Study Dialogue Circles (ASDiC) have entered a 2-year partnership to provide antiracism dialogue experiences that build awareness, knowledge, communication across structures of domination, motivation and commitment. A conference-wide Intercultural Development Inventory IDI assessment will begin our work together. Watch for your congregation’s invitation to participate in the IDI Assessment coming in February/March.

During year 1 (2022) SWC  Antiracism Study Dialogue Circles will include 2 tracks, one for SWC leadership team members (staff and standing committees) and another for clergy and local church leaders. Circles range from 2.5 hour stand-alone workshops (Cross-Cultural Communication & Inclusivity, Mediation of Conflict & Difference, Doctrine of Discovery & Legacy of Colonialism) to a 36 hour multi-session programs. The curriculum for the SWC will be presented with knowledge of, lived experience with, and sensitivity to the lived experiences of Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, and Pacific Islander individuals and communities. Year 2’s program content will be built after the IDI assessment is interpreted and year 1 is evaluated. Year 2 will focus on local churches decentering whiteness and building racially just ministry settings.

SWC members and congregations are invited and encouraged to learn more about the ministry of Antiracism Study Dialogue Circles (ASDiC) and to participate in their programs in local and/or individual ways. All ASDIC programs count toward fulfilling standing requirements for SWC clergy.

Email ASDIC at info@asdicircle.org to learn how your congregation can partner with them.
