Rev. Dr. Dosia Carlson has died

We hold Bob Carlson and his wife Millie in our prayers; Dosia died on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Even two nights ago from ICU, Dosia continued to text family and friends to remind them of God's love and to encourage them to continue living in ways that show God's light and love. How like Dosia. She was a significance presence in the Church, in the life of the Southwest Conference, and for countless people whose lives were touched by her ministry.

Living God, welcome into your loving presence your saint and our friend and colleague, Dosia. Receive her as a sheep of your own fold, a lamb in your own flock, and a daughter of your own redeeming. Grant her eternal peace and rest even as you comfort and care for Bob and Millie, their family, and everyone who knew and loved Dosia. Thank you for the promises of Jesus in whom Dosia put her trust. May our faith allow us to grieve with hope and to rejoice in the life and ministry of a dear saint. God, in your mercy...

From Church of the Beatitudes:

Reverend Dr. Dosia Carlson, Minister Emeritus of Church of the Beatitudes, and Founder of Duet: Partners in Health and Aging (formerly Center DOAR), passed peacefully, Wednesday, January 13, 2021, three days following her 91st birthday. The love-filled spirit of our dear friend, colleague, and mentor, Dosia, took flight at 10:00 p.m. following complications from the COVID-19 virus.

Beloved longtime pastor and member of our church, Dosia, was truly a Beatitudes Saint who understood how to make God's love real for all who knew and loved her. In addition to her pastoral and professional accomplishments, she was an accomplished composer of hymns. Her longtime friend, Esther Rings, shared that prior to her death she had a love-filled conversation with her brother Bob and sister-in-law Millie in which she shared one of her many favorite hymns: “Oh Jesus, I Have Promised to Serve Thee to the End.” With her compromised breathing, she continued to the end, “my master and my friend.”

At this time, there are so many words and feelings to be shared about this lovely lady. She loved life, loved people and was undeniably a friend. Dosia’s loving spirit will remain with each person she has touched.

Celebration of Life Memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, were comforted by her, who worked with and for her, and most of all her loving family and church.
