Longtime Shadow Rock UCC member Susan Glynn organized their W.I.S.E. Team to join the NAMI Walks Your Way Valley of the Sun on October 15 with a small but mighty team, “WISE Walkers.” Not only did Shadow Rock really rock it by raising over $3600, they were also thrilled to become the third top fundraising team out of 92 teams!

The Church of the Palms will host its 19th Annual Interfaith Conference onsite this November 4 & 5 during National Native American Heritage month. Consistent with our church’s mission statement of love of God, justice, and extravagant welcome, this is an interfaith opportunity to bridge connections to Indigenous peoples.
The theme is Native American Spirituality. Kaitlin Curtice, a nationally known speaker, Potawatomi Indian, author, and poet will be our speaker.

Last fall, First Church Immigration Task Force members delivered tuition checks to three Maricopa Community Colleges on behalf of Dreamers attending five different Phoenix Union high schools. These checks covered the costs of dual credit classes for a unique group of PUHSD students — Dreamers — who came to Arizona as young children with their undocumented parents. Last year, we supported 15 students; it is our hope that we are able to do the same this year.
And we are also hopeful that this is the last school year Dreamers will be required to pay out-of-state tuition in Arizona.
