The Church of the Palms will hold three sessions of Deep Listening Masterclass: Learning the Art of Sacred Presence on Saturdays October 17, 24, and November 7 at 10:00 am for those desiring deeper connections, warmer conversations, and a safer space to practice listening without judgment. This is a three-part journey into the art of unhurried presence. Together, we’ll explore how to build an “inner room” of calm, to let go of the urge to fix or give unsolicited advice, and listen beneath surface noise to understand the deeper human longings we all share. This masterclass offers practical tools and plenty of room for laughter and grace along the way.
Book drive for children’s home libraries: Scottsdale Congregational UCC’s Missions & Justice team is collecting new and gently used children’s books throughout October to help build home libraries for local children. The congregation is inviting members, friends, and the wider community to donate books for all grade levels, supporting literacy, imagination, and access to reading resources for young people who may not otherwise have books of their own.

Sacred Grounds Jazz Coffeehouse is a direct extension of Scottsdale Congregational's arts and music ministry. They offer live jazz every Thursday 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. $8 for adults and $5 for students (cash only). Funding for Coffeehouse is provided through a generous and ongoing gift from the Jazzbird Foundation, donations by those attending performances, and proceeds from the sale of beverages and desserts. Beginning this month, Rincon Congregational will distribute warm socks at their 'Pull Up a Chair' community lunches. They welcome donations of new socks in adult and youth sizes to be dropped off in the narthex or the church office.
Desert Heritage Church's women's group partners with Treasures 4 Teachers, a member-based, donation-based resource and supply store serving the educators of Arizona.Anyone who works closely with students can have access to a wide selection of low-cost and free materials, resources, and training that will enhance and expand the learning process. On Sunday, November 8, Church of the Beatitudes will hold a 50th ordination anniversary celebration for Rev. Jim Meadows by honoring him during the worship service and afterward at the coffee hour. All are invited to attend and celebrate with Jim!
Church of the Good Shepherd in Albuquerque invites the community to honor the life and legacy of Shawn Marqus Dromgoole II with special events. A memorial walk will take place on Saturday, October 31, at Roosevelt Park, bringing together neighbors, friends, and supporters in the spirit of connection and community that Shawn championed. The following morning, November 1, participants are invited to join a neighborhood walk with the Dromgoole family and local faith partners before worship, followed by a special Sunday service featuring guest preacher Dr. Ambre Dromgoole, professor of Africana Studies at Cornell University, and Shawn’s sister. All are welcome as the community gathers to celebrate Shawn’s vision of bringing people together.

Join Desert Garden UCC on Monday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for a powerful and deeply human documentary about compassion on the Arizona-Mexico border. Samaritans tells the story of older American volunteers who risk their own safety to provide water, food, and humanitarian aid to migrants traveling one of the world’s deadliest migration routes. Special guest David Damian Figueroa, producer of Samaritans, will be present for the screening! David is a documentary filmmaker and social justice activist whose work has focused on farmworker rights, immigration, and human rights. Following the film, David will share stories from making the documentary and participate in a Q&A.
