Join us in our Fellowship Hall for a powerful and deeply human documentary about compassion on the Arizona-Mexico border. Samaritans tells the story of older American volunteers who risk their own safety to provide water, food, and humanitarian aid to migrants traveling one of the world’s deadliest migration routes.
Special guest: David Damian Figueroa, producer of Samaritans, will join us for the screening! David is a documentary filmmaker and social justice activist whose work has focused on farmworker rights, immigration, and human rights. Following the film, David will share stories from making the documentary and participate in a Q&A.

ALL ARE INVITED TO OUR PUBLIC VIEWING OF “SAMARITANS” DOCUMENTARY FILM
Samaritans- A documentary viewing and conversation – Nov. 1st at 2:00 pm in Fellowship Hall we will host local film maker David Damian Figueroa for a showing of the documentary, "Samaritans". This is a 73-minute film following the humanitarian work of the local group called “Samaritans.” This is a group of people who work to keep our borders and those who cross them safe. One chapter, the Green Valley Samaritans, is based at our sister church, Good Shepherd UCC, in Sahuarita. We will gather to watch the film and then have a Q&A with the director and some Samaritan volunteers.
Description: In the shadow of remarkable human struggle, Samaritans, weaves a poignant narrative of hope and humanity along the US-Mexico border in southern Arizona. The film sheds light on extreme volunteering and the compassion of those who provide life-saving aid to migrants facing harsh realities and often deadly challenges in the Sonoran Desert.
