Volunteers Needed for Cooling and Hydration Centers in Tempe

The Respite Coalition of Tempe (three Tempe churches) will operate a “traveling” cooling & hydration center this Summer in Tempe, at University Presbyterian Church, Desert Palm, and Community Christian Church. In order to staff the centers, they have created a "SignUpGenius" link with either 3 or 4-hour volunteer shifts. If you'd like to help them ensure that the community is cared for during the hottest part of the year, please consider volunteering using THIS LINK.

Desert Palm UCC will be the Heat Relief Hosting location for the month of July. If you are interested in volunteering to help save lives for those who don't have relief from our summer heat please attend the planning and information session with Pastor Tom, following the worship service on June 15th.  If you are able to be a volunteer host during the month of June at University Presbyterian or in July at Desert Palm, or Community Christian in August, click to sign up for a time block and more information. Your friends and neighbors are welcome to volunteer as well!

Making contact with people to let them know they are being thought of is vital for the life of the person and the church. To have a reason to make contact is meaningful, but "just because" is also helpful and means a lot, or sometimes more! In 2023, Casas Adobes created C.A.L.M- Casas Adobes Lay Ministry. This volunteer group of folks sends birthday and holiday cards to all members, makes home visits, sends emails and cards, and will bring communion or arrange pastoral visits.

On May 21st, five Albuquerque-based organizations who meet as the Coalition of Asylum Partners, held a training for churches on how to support immigrants.  Representatives from eight area churches and ten folks from First Congregational were there.
