MLK Day 2025: Building Peace, Inspiring Joy

In the fight for justice and equality, creativity is a powerful tool. Art is more than beauty—it’s a voice, a protest, and a way to inspire change. This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let’s come together to honor Dr. King’s legacy through reflection, creativity, and connection.

🎉 Join Rev. Derek for the FREE Virtual Paint for Peace Party!
🗓️ Date: January 20, 2025 Noon-1:30pm ET
💻 Where: Online via Zoom (link emailed to registrants on Jan 19) Click here to Register!
🎨 Cost: FREE and open to all ages!

Whether you’re bringing your own art project, downloading and printing one of Rev. Derek’s free MLK coloring sheets, or creating with one of his exclusive at-home MLK Painting Kits, or coloring from my new coloring book Vibrant Voices: Coloring the Stories of Black Visionaries, this event is about celebrating peace, justice, and love in a positive and welcoming space.

🎨 Whether you’re coloring stories of Black visionaries or painting a legacy of peace, you’re connecting with history, nurturing your spirit, and contributing to the ongoing work of social justice.

Even as we face uncertainty, we can find inspiration in Dr. King’s life and let his legacy of resilience, courage, and joy guide us forward. Together, we can reclaim this day and build the beloved community he dreamed of.

Rev. Derek Terry is an artist, activist, and pastor of St. Peter's UCC in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also serves as the Program Director the Open and Affirming Coalition of the United Church of Christ.
