JPANet: No Asylum Ban!

March 11, 2023 in Faith In Action

Tell Biden: No Asylum Ban!

Recently, the Biden administration announced they are planning on implementing new asylum policies that would significantly limit access to asylum for many people coming to the U.S. While called a different name, it essentially amounts to a new asylum ban. It would place harmful limits on who can seek asylum based simply on their manner of entry. If implemented, this policy would result in the return of asylum seekers to their home countries to face war, persecution, and even death.

Right now, the Administration is taking comments from the public on this plan. And your voice is needed! As people of faith, and an immigrant-welcoming denomination, we are called to work toward ensuring every person has access to safety and home.

The government is required to view and respond to comments to their proposed rules. Please use this process to speak out against this rule by sharing how this policy will be dangerous for asylum seekers and why the U.S. needs to continue offering asylum to all who need it.

While we’ve offered suggestions for your comment it is very important you add your own words and make your comment unique - duplicate comments will be grouped together and considered one comment. Click here and add your own words in the message box on the right! The comment period closes on Monday, March 27, 2023.
