Urgent Take Action: Urge Congress to Hold Biden Administration Accountable to Welcome Refugees and Rebuild Refugee Resettlement Program

By Thursday, September 30th, the administration is required by law to consult with Congress before setting next year’s refugee admissions goal. On September 20th, President Biden proposed to set the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY2022) refugee admissions goal at 125,000. As we confront the worst global displacement crisis in history with more than 31 million refugees worldwide, and as countless vulnerable Afghans remain in imminent danger, this is a welcome step - but it is vital that Congress hold the Biden administration accountable to rebuild the refugee resettlement program, hold meaningful consultations on the FY22 refugee admissions goal before the end of the Fiscal Year - this Thursday, and invest in strengthening our nation’s capacity to welcome. Join us by taking action today!

Here are the top ways to take action:

  1. Contact your Members of Congress: Click here to call or email your Members of Congress.

  2. Amplify on Social Media: Share this message with your Senators & Representatives on social media using this new social media toolkit.

  3. Faith Leaders Sign On: Sign onto this faith letter urging the administration to set 200,000 as the refugee admissions goal for FY 2022 and to rebuild the resettlement program. Sign on using this form by COB today, Monday, September 27th.

  4. Join a Virtual Forum for Action on September 28th: Register here to join the Virtual Forum for Action to Support Strong Refugee Admissions 2022 on Tuesday, September 28th at 12 PM ET.
