Take Action: Urge the Administration to Protect Afghans Seeking Safety and Protection

August 28, 2021 in Faith In Action

As the United States withdraws from Afghanistan, tens of thousands of at-risk Afghans are in imminent danger, as attacks from the Taliban on Afghan nationals have increased and violence against Afghan women and children is at an all-time high. Action must be taken now to ensure the United States evacuates vulnerable Afghans for as long as it takes, create safe pathways out of Afghanistan toward protection, and evacuate all all at-risk Afghans to U.S. territory.

Here are the top ways to take action TODAY:

  1. Faith Leaders & People of Faith Sign On: Sign onto this faith letter urging the administration to support a robust humanitarian response. Sign on using this form by COB today, August 26.

  2. Contact your Members of Congress: Click here to email your member of Congress.

  3. Amplify on Social Media: Click here for sample social media posts and for additional social media toolkits.

For additional ways to take action, please visit: https://bit.ly/AfghanAdvocacyTop5Actions, and check out this new FAQ on Afghans seeking refuge: https://bit.ly/AfghanFAQ. For a collection of resources for Afghans seeking assistance, and actions individuals, organizations, and elected officials can take to support vulnerable Afghans, please visit RCUSA’s new web page: https://rcusa.org/afghanistan/.

On Tuesday, CWS released a press statement calling on the Biden administration to ensure the urgent evacuation of Afghans in danger for as long as it takes to get people to safety.

Thank you for taking action - and please share this information with your networks!

In solidarity,
