SOLIDARITY AND ACTION: Suggestions from the UCC Palestine Israel Network (UCCPIN)

May 17, 2020 in Faith In Action

We share these three links with our UCC friends, with every hope that you’ll join us in action—as we extend care and support to our Palestinian and Israeli partners, resisting occupation and pursuing a just peace.

A MESSAGE FROM PALESTINE TO THE WORLD: Sameer Qumsiyeh offers a Palestinian reflection on life in quarantine, social distancing and oppression, and some counsel from the Palestinian context. The link here offers a powerful word of encouragement and an invitation to solidarity and support.

SUPPORT THE AL-AHLI HOSPITAL IN GAZA: Established in 1882, the hospital is located in Gaza and provides important medical and surgical care to all people of the Gaza Strip. A majority of Gaza’s residents live in refugee camps and a significant portion of the hospital’s care is provided without fees—as many there are living in difficult circumstances. Use this link to connect and contribute from your congregation’s mission fund.

WEBINAR: TIED IN A SINGLE GARMENT OF DESTINY: A panel of dynamic leaders reflects on how the “triple evils” of militarism, poverty and racism tie together Black and Palestinian stories, and their past and present struggles for justice. What’s the role of the Church in liberation theology and the march toward freedom. Panelists include: Ash-Lee Woodward Henderson, Erica Williams, Khury Petersen-Smith and Nyle Fort. Use the link here to register for the event which airs live on Thursday, May 21.
