Thanks expressed from Justice and Witness Ministries

September 27, 2017 in Faith In Action

Friends –

Great news! Thanks to your tireless advocacy we were able to stop another congressional attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act. We know that the Graham-Cassidy bill would have been devastating for millions of Americans – especially seniors, people living with disabilities and children. Your prayers, phone calls, and letters made this possible. You demanded that your elected officials put our concern for our neighbors ahead of politics and they responded just in time.

At a time when so many of the things we care about are under threat, I am deeply heartened by your commitment to working for a just world for all. Thank you.

We know this is not over. Senator Graham has expressed confidence that his bill will eventually muster 50 votes. Going forward we will remain alert to this and other attacks on health care and, more importantly, we will continue to work for changes to improve and strengthen our current laws. We will not rest until health care is truly affordable, accessible and equitable for all people. This will not be easy work, but we know that we can do impossible and powerful things with God.

In Solidarity,
Sandy Sorensen
Director, UCC Washington Office
