Happy New Year’s, beloved SWC members and friends,

As we come to the close of the Christmastide season and step into a new year, we do so rooted in gratitude and hope. The light of Christ continues to guide our steps and ground our life together as we enter 2026.

Our Conference theme for the year ahead is Presence That Grounds Us – 2026. In a time marked by change and uncertainty, we choose to center ourselves in God’s abiding presence, present with one another, present to our call, and present in the communities we serve. Grounded in Christ, we are reminded that faithful ministry flows not from urgency or exhaustion, but from trust, relationship, and grace.

The Southwest Conference staff remains committed to journeying alongside you, your congregations, and your ministries. This new year already hums with possibility as we are beginning the CARES Pilgrimage of Presence, an opportunity to show up with intention, listen deeply, and embody Christ’s love across the Conference. It will serve as a reminder that you are not alone in this sacred work. This grounding presence will shape our shared life in the months ahead as we prepare for Annual Meeting at The Good Shepherd UCC in Sahuarita. Annual Meeting will be a time to gather, discern, celebrate, and be renewed in our shared call. We look forward to all that God has in store.

With gratitude, we also extend sincere thanks to Holly Herman for her faithful service over the past eight years in compiling Jottings for The Loop. Her dedication and love for the Southwest Conference have kept us connected to the remarkable ministry happening across our churches.

May we continue to be rooted in Christ, strengthened by community, and open to our NEXT, for the best is yet to come!

Grounded in God. Present with one another. Faith forward for the journey ahead.
