On February 2nd, 2021 Dr. Cara Christ, Director of the Arizona Department of Health Services and Maria Cristina Fuentes, Director of the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family, confirmed on a call with faith leaders that clergy are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination under Phase 1B. Dr. Christ confirmed that clergy are considered essential workers as outlined in the vaccination plan. The vaccination process is currently in prioritized Phase 1B. Dr. Christ expects the vaccination process to open up to the full Phase 1B group (which would include clergy) towards the end of February and/or beginning of March.

Yesterday, leaders from different faith traditions gathered at First Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix to share a strong message with their congregations and the public that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective, and getting vaccinated is the best way to end this pandemic.
