The dates for the “Special Edition” of General Synod as July 11-18, 2021. This is a Sunday to Sunday schedule that will run 5-9:30 pm Eastern Standard Time each day.
The schedule has been pared down to worship, a keynote speaker, committee and resolution work, installation service for Karen Georgia Thompson, and other business of Synod. The schedule is subject to change as staff and the planning committee continue to streamline the needs for this virtual General Synod.
There will be a virtual Exhibit Hall.
Planners want to encourage the Church to submit resolutions that are critical to this moment and allow for other resolutions to be submitted in 2023.
Volunteers will be needed from all of our Conferences related to technology and other virtual skills.
Pre-Synod events will occur on July 7-10, 2020.
Rooted in Love continues to be the theme.
Planners are hoping for a “leaner” General Synod in this virtual environment. We will worship, conduct business, provide educational opportunities and make space for experiencing the church gathered.
