50 charming ladies dressed in black and white with hats and gloves and 7 dignified waiters (mostly) plus kitchen staff gathered on Sunday afternoon March 24th for a Ladies Black and White Afternoon Tea. Complete with tea, tisane, entertainment, prizes, a harpist, and wonderful food, the event benefited United Church's Treasures 4 Teachers Mission.

For Such a Time as This: A Wellness Series for the Second Half of Life

At First Congregational Church of Flagstaff on Saturday afternoons, 2–4 p.m. beginning in February. All are welcome!

This series will address some of the questions that arise when we or loved ones move into and through the second half of life.

Led by specialists on various topics, we’ll learn about ways to

  • identify the challenges, questions, and options we have,

  • embrace the opportunities that present themselves and

  • develop meaningful conversations with family, friends, professionals on several topics that face us as we get older.

It is a series, but you may attend one or several or all. There is no charge, except for the final session when the American Red Cross will offer CPR Training.

Memory and Faith Project: Dementia Care and Education – in Sun City

The Church of the Palms and United Church of Sun City are pleased to participate in the Dementia Care and Education Memory and Faith Project, an educational project designed to provide education and resources to churches across Arizona. The program is being offered in churches with the goal being to mobilize and educate faith communities, increasing awareness and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and supporting those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.

United Church of Sun City squared off against the Church of the Palms as congregants readily engaged in the fun competition and once the competition was over, the United Church of Sun City won the sought-after Silver Ladle. 

However, the real winner was the Valley View Food Bank, recipient of the soup that was raised. Between the two churches over 6,600 cans and packages of soup was donated!
