Since the early days of the pandemic in 2020, Daily Morning Prayer has been a steady and faithful practice at Shepherd of the Hills UCC. What began as a way to stay connected during a time of isolation has grown into a meaningful rhythm of prayer, scripture, and community that continues to nourish many each day.
We gather every weekday morning, Monday through Friday, via Zoom for a brief and grounding time of prayer. Pr. Rock leads prayer three days a week, with two other UCC pastors leading on the remaining days. Over time this circle has grown to include people from across the country, with participants now joining from every U.S. time zone.
With the change to Daylight Saving Time this Sunday, the gathering will continue at 11:00 AM Eastern Time and 8:00 AM Pacific Time. Because Arizona does not change clocks, this means our local gathering time will now be 8:00 AM Arizona time (still 9:00 New Mexico/El Paso time) so that the schedule remains consistent for those joining from other parts of the country.
Some join for prayer and then head into their day. Others linger for a few minutes of fellowship afterward, connecting with familiar faces from Shepherd of the Hills and beyond. Whether you come every day or just once in a while, you are welcome to participate in whatever way fits your life.
This is a simple, faithful way to begin the day rooted in prayer, connection, and hope during this Lenten journey.
