All are invited to the Installation service for Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Surprise's settled minister, Karen Richter, at 4 pm on September 21 at 17540 N Avenue of the Arts in Surprise. Clergy are invited to robe and process. A short reception will follow the close of the service.  Prior to her service as UUCS's contract minister beginning in 2023, Karen served on the staff of Shadow Rock UCC as Director of Spiritual Formation and also with the Southwest Conference.

The Care team and Music team from First Congregational in Albuquerque are partnering to visit the church’s shut-ins and sing a few beloved songs—“caroling” in September! They are splitting into two teams so they can visit all their friends.

October 4 is celebrated as the Feast of St Francis of Assisi. He was a 13th century Franciscan who is known for his simplicity, his humility and his love for the poor.  He is also known as the lover of all of God's creations and well known for his song, "Canticle of the Creatures/Canticle of the Sun."  Scottsdale UCC will celebrate his feast on Sunday, October 5 by honoring all pets.  Folks are invited to bring their dogs, cats and other pets to Sunday service to receive a special blessing.

Church of the Good Shepherd in Albuquerque will be honoring the animal members of its families on Sept. 28th in a slideshow!

On September 21st, join Arizona Interfaith Power & Light at Dayspring UMC at 2:00 PM to celebrate "Sun Day" - a global day of action to spotlight a positive trajectory for solar and renewable technologies! ☀️You are invited to draw inspiration from the success stories of the Arizona Youth Climate Coalition (AZYCC), and to learn from the expertise of Professor Clark Miller from the ASU College of Global Futures. Together, we'll discuss the benefits of local climate advocacy and some strategies for getting started in your own community. Please RSVP for this event or check out their website for other opportunities to get involved!

Margaret Kofron was a recent college graduate when she came to work at the Good Shepherd in Sahuarita more than a year and a half ago.  In December she left the Good Shepherd to begin work in Lebanon as a Global Ministry Intern.  She has now been in Lebanon for 6 months and has sent this report to catch us up on how she is doing.  Here is a link to her “Lebanon Reflection” piece:  Lebanon Reflection

Plans are underway for folks from Rincon to take a day-long trip to the Tohono O’odham Cultural Center and Museum in Topawa, AZ on Saturday, Oct. 11th.  To sign up for the trip, contact Rev. Karen at desertsky57@gmail.com by October 3rd. If you’re able to provide transportation, let Karen know that, too. Participants will bring their own lunches. The facility is accessible to those who use wheelchairs or walkers. As part of living out our land acknowledgement, this trip will help us honor our Indigenous siblings, whose ancestral lands we occupy.

Join NCC to Celebrate 75 Years of Christian Unity and Witness

October 13-16, Boston, MA

The National Council of Churches was founded in 1950 during a time of tumult following the end of World War II. Now, 75 years later, we are in another time of tumult where Christian unity and witness for justice is vitally important.

You are invited to join us in Boston as we celebrate the dedicated work of generations of leaders who have shown us the way as we face today's challenges and chart a course for the future. Come and remember those who came before us, celebrate today's Christian witnesses, and experience the future of ecumenism.
