The Shadow Rock Theology Weekend is a member event to explore and delve deeper into Shadow Rock’s unique theological history and identity. The event will explore some foundational theological ideas and help participants discern their relationship to such ideas. The hope is that the weekend will raise questions about participants' spiritual journeys and help them find companions for their journeys. It brings the church’s symbols of the Cross and the Wedgeblade together, encouraging the question, “How can we be in the right relationship with history?” Presentations, small-group and large-group discussions, individual meditation time, music, art, and videos will all facilitate the process of discovery.

Special movie showing at The Good Shepherd in Sahuarita.

From First Church Phoenix:  No Kings Day is a grassroots celebration of justice, equity, and the radical idea that no one is above another. It’s a day to reflect on systems of power, reclaim our spiritual agency, and recommit to building a world where love rules—not kings.  A group from First Church is attending the event in Phoenix.

First Congregational in Albuquerque is also organizing a group to participate in the No Kings protests next weekend. If a group from your church is participating- send pics!

Gather at First Church Phoenix at 8am and travel together to the Pride Phoenix Parade on Sunday, October 19th and join with friends from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Paradise Valley. It’s a joyful, colorful way to connect with others and share the spirit of First Church.

Rev. Katie Sexton, Executive Director of Arizona Faith Network, is among those being recognized as a 2025 Local Hero at the Spotlight on Success Local Heroes Awards organized by One Community Foundation. This celebration of individuals advancing diversity, inclusion, and equality across Arizona will take place on Friday.

It’s been a long time coming, but the Sahuarita Food Bank-Community Resource Center (SFB-CRC) staff and volunteers are finally enjoying a new shade structure along with newly installed solar power for cooling needs. Years of planning and fund raising culminated in this major change that they hope will save half on electricity costs of about $50,000 per year for the building’s 14,300 square foot space, including cooling loads from the 600 square foot freezer and 800 square foot refrigerated cooler. Solar panels cover a 20-parking space shade structure, providing volunteers and staff with relief for their vehicles after a hot summer day at work.  SFB-CRC will receive a 30% credit from the federal government and another 10% for using all American made components.  They are hopeful that a possible $25,000 savings will help expand their services in a variety of ways, such as more purchasing power for food essentials, classroom materials for our vocational school, or perhaps more weekend BackPacks for food insecure kids in our communities. SFB-CRC was started by, and continues as a mission of, The Good Shepherd UCC in Sahuarita.

Rev. John Angiulo of Casas Adobes Congregational was on the local Tucson TV news recently in a story about the church's drive through pet blessing!
