Are you someone who has done significant anti-racism work? Do you ever wonder – “How could I get better at recognizing racism when I see it?” “How could I get better at knowing what to do about it?” Then this Community of Practice may be for you. As a group of both lay and clergy UCC members we meet monthly on Zoom from September through May on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5:30 PM Arizona time.
Here is what one members of the group has to say about the experience:
Being part of the Anti-Racism Community of Practice has been a transformative experience in my spiritual and relational life. It’s a space built on trust and authenticity where I don’t have to perform; I can simply be in-process. That alone is healing. Through this community, I’ve had the courage to examine painful memories, make amends where I’ve caused harm, and stretch my capacity for honest, loving relationships. The case studies we reflect on, taken from real experiences, have reshaped the way I move through the world. I find myself asking, “What would folks in our community of practice say about this?” and that question helps me act with more courage and integrity. I’ve become more willing to call people in or out when I witness harm, and I feel more equipped to challenge the assumptions I carry from my own enculturation in the white racial frame. - Mr. Dax Hicks
Each September we welcome new members who would like to be part of the work. You can apply to join this community of practice here. NOTE: Existing members must re-apply.
