Recovery Spirituality is born out of what many in recovery call “the gift of desperation.” It begins in the moment when we recognize our own powerlessness and become willing to turn our will and lives over to a Spirit greater than ourselves. It’s not about perfection — it’s about surrender, trust, and a new way of living that opens us to grace, hope, and healing.
The heart of this journey is action. We take a personal inventory of our behaviors and attitudes, and we courageously face what we find. In that sacred space of honesty, we admit our faults, seek forgiveness, and cultivate a willingness to change. This is not a one-time event but an ongoing spiritual practice that invites growth, humility, and freedom.
Recovery Spirituality also reminds us that spiritual growth is lived out through connection. By practicing prayer and meditation, we deepen our relationship with a Higher Power and align ourselves with a purpose greater than self. And through service to others, we live out this transformation — a way of life that may sound familiar to anyone who has walked the 12-Step path or listened to the words of Jesus: to love, to forgive, and to serve.
