First Congregational UCC in Albuquerque invites the community to a forum following worship on Sunday, August 23, featuring Beatriz Valencia from the City of Albuquerque’s Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs. Participants will learn about the City’s new Safer Community Places Ordinance, adopted in March 2026, which designates schools, hospitals, libraries, public transportation facilities, and other public spaces as safer community spaces and prohibits the use of city property for immigration enforcement. The presentation will explore how the ordinance is being implemented, its impact on immigrant safety, and what it may mean for local faith communities.
