On Sunday June 28th, Desert Palm UCC will welcome Voices of the Desert for UCC National Pride Sunday as guest artists during worship. The choir will provide and help lead music throughout the service and will present a brief mini concert during the Intergenerational Moment. The congregation invites the community to attend and support this wonderful local choir as Desert Palm joins churches across the country in honoring and celebrating Pride Sunday through worship, music, and welcome.

Cross Cultural Images for Jesus at Church of the Red Rocks: This summer, the bulletin covers for each Sunday will have an artistic representation of Jesus as seen from a non-European culture. These images are part of a compilation of artists presenting a de-colonized version of the Christ. It is an opportunity for us to learn Christian iconography and art typically not represented by our anglo-centric version of the Risen Christ.

The Good Shepherd UCC will host the Be The Neighbor Program June 21 – August 1, providing a place to sleep for weekly groups of teenagers. Their daily activities will include participating in local immigrant and border service programs.

Right at the front door of The Church of the Palms, they have a specialized Little Free Library dedicated entirely to sharing banned and challenged books. In a world where important voices and stories are too often silenced, this little box stands as a beacon of free expression and intellectual freedom. It is completely open to anyone in or around our community. They invite you to explore it: take a book, share a book, or just sit and read.

Rev. Clara Sims of First Congregational Albuquerque is excited about an event that their Care Team will host in July! Instead of caroling to homebound folks, on Sunday, July 26th they'll do something similar, but instead of caroling they'll make and take care baskets filled with flowers, sweet treats, notes, and poems.

Seventeen employees, members, and guests of United Church of Sun City attended a three-hour CPR/AED/First Aid training session on Tuesday, June 16, led by Michael from LP Health Directions. Michael did a superb job of certifying class members on life saving techniques using CPR and AED equipment. He tested us on how we should respond to emergency situations that could happen in our everyday lives and how we might react to similar instances that could happen during a Sunday morning worship service. In addition to the CPR and AED training, Michael also touched on first aid and what to do in the Arizona heat if someone is experiencing heat exhaustion or heat stroke, as well as choking techniques and injury triage. Those attending came away with a renewed sense of security knowing they would be able to help someone in need until paramedics arrive, possibly saving their life.

Desert Heritage Church’s women's group is partnering with Treasures 4 Teachers, a member-based resource and supply store serving the educators of Arizona. Anyone who works closely with students can have access to a wide selection of materials, resources, and training that will enhance and expand the learning process. T4T is a donation-based operation, enabling them to provide low-cost and free school supplies to their members in Tempe, Arizona. DHC women's group requests assistance in collecting supplies. You can bring these supplies to Desert Heritage Church or drop them off at 3025 South 48th Street, Suite 101 Tempe, AZ 85282. Click here for accepted donation list.
