"Taos Medical Debt Relief Project seeks to expand reach"
This project has largely been spearheaded by members of Taos UCC. The annual initiative was established in 2018 by the late Rev. Pamela Shepherd of Taos United Community Church, former Holy Cross Medical Center CEO Bill Patten, and Rev. Ginna Bairby of First Presbyterian Church. It has since garnered the support of numerous faith communities, individual donors and foundations. “Pam actually asked us, when she was passing away — she had cancer — if we would keep it going,” said Cidney Fee, who has managed the project with Valerie Holsinger for the last five years as members of Taos United Community Church. “We think it’s very worthwhile to do and it’s a very positive thing.”
The director of Purple Iris Radio Theatre will help First Congregational Prescott UCC present the radio play version of this story again this year! They will invite actors to read multiple roles this year, which will be even more fun than before. Auditions for people who can make all the rehearsal and performance dates are on November 4.
First Congregational Albuquerque will join with about a dozen faith communities on Sunday, November 22 for their annual Interfaith Thanksgiving service. This year's service will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The theme of the service is “Build a Longer Table,” and we’ll hear from Abbey Reed and Dr. Sarita Cargas about food insecurity (building on our involvement with COMIDA and the UNM Lobo Food Pantry.) The service will include music from a combined choir and band and readings from a variety of faith traditions and end with a time of fellowship and snacks.
The Church of the Palms UCC will gather in love to honor a sacred tradition — Transgender Day of Remembrance. In a season focused on gratitude, they will pause to remember with love and dignity our transgender siblings who have lost their lives to violence. They will speak their names with care, light candles in their memory, give thanks for their lives, and recommit themselves to building a world where every person is safe, valued, and free to live as their authentic, beloved self. Everyone is welcome to these two special moments of reflection and community:
• Labyrinth Walk of Remembrance and Gratitude — Friday, November 20, 2026 at 9:00 AM — A quiet, meditative walk to give thanks, to pray, and to hold space for one another.
• Transgender Day of Remembrance — Saturday, November 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM — A heartfelt service of music, prayer, and community as we honor each life by name.
The Good Shepherd UCC will enjoy a docent-led adult field trip to San Xavier del Bac Mission on December 19th. Their 45-minute tour that will cover the art, architecture, culture and history of the Mission and of the community where it resides.
