Arizona Faith Network has already welcomed over 15,000 visits to their Heat Relief Centers this summer. Each visit represents a neighbor seeking refuge from triple-digit temperatures, often with no other place to go.
But the need keeps growing. Right now, vulnerable individuals and families are facing historic challenges: limited shelter access, overwhelmed services, and life-threatening exposure.
Your donation today helps:
Keep our centers open and stocked with water, food, and cooling supplies
Provide safe indoor space for our vulnerable neighbors and their pets
Connect guests with wraparound services and emergency assistance

(University Presbyterian, where I attend, housed the cooling center in June. We thought we would have to do it alone with all volunteers. AFN came up with funds to hire one experienced staff person for each shift, which was such a relief. Some volunteers were hesitant to work with up to 80 homeless folks at a time. Knowing there was someone to handle any unusual situation was a relief! The Cooling Center is now at Desert Palm for July. Please donate to keep this ministry funded or volunteer to help. Holly.)
I have another personal note to add. First Church Phoenix sponsors a Bike Co-op each month. Bikes are repaired or purchased or refurbished and given to those that need them. I manage a refugee ministry at University Presbyterian where we are currently housing an 18 year old young man from Guinea, Africa. It has been difficult for him to fill his days while waiting for his asylum case to finalize. I talked to Stu at the Bike Coop and he found a bike for him with a pump, repair kit, helmet, and lock included. Moussa can now ride to the store, the gym, his Mosque, to the park, the library, and even just around the neighborhood. This gift has made a huge impact on his life while he is here with us. Thank you! - Holly
What a gift to Church of the Palms by renowned artist Georgia Feiste! The piece was dedicated last Sunday and is now proudly displayed in their narthex.

Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the current administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people. On this, the anniversary of John Lewis’s passing, we’re taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble. Join Desert Palm “on the bridge!”

This concert is part of the 2025 Music at the Red Rocks series and is presented free of charge thanks to the generous support of the Friends of Music at The Church of the Red Rocks, as a gift to the people of Sedona and the Verde Valley.
The Church of the Painted Hills UCC, Tucson, welcomed 9 new members Sunday, the 29th of June. Seven among these were baptized. We as a community are so joyful that we have young adults as well as several who have been with us for some time. Some have never been exposed to the Gospel of Christ before attending CPH with Pastor Sosa. Each new member was presented with a new study Bible. What a blessing for Painted Hills! We invite all the SW Conference church communities to rejoice with us! –written by Marylyn Tobey
Who was Walter Brueggemann beyond the scholar who could’ve easily passed as an ancient prophet himself? The UCC’s Donna Jackson explores that in this tribute. Read
