Our sincere sympathies go out to Amy Dillemuth, Administrative Assistant from The Good Shepherd UCC in Sahuarita, upon hearing of the tragic accidental death of her husband, Fred.

On Friday, Sept. 13, United Church of Santa Fe Pastor Talitha Arnold and Bandelier Superintendent Jason Lott will gather for a behind-the-scenes exploration of the mesa at Bandelier National Monument. (15 hikers max., able to walk hilly and rocky areas without trails).  Hikers will bring a lunch and a walking stick and enjoy God’s Creation! 

On Saturday, September 21, at 1:00 PM at the Prescott United Methodist Church, First Congregational of Prescott is co-sponsoring an immigration panel of speakers including: 

  • I A Master of Divinity graduate from a Methodist Seminary who is also a professor at Boston University teaching graduate classes on the subjects of immigration and theology.

  • II An immigration attorney

  • III A holocaust survivor

  • IV Dan Streeter, Humboldt Unified School District Superintendent and Board member of the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce.

  • V Representative of “No More Deaths”, a humanitarian organization based in Southern Arizona.

  • VI Member of the local immigrant community

  • VII Community organizer and graduate student at Prescott College who has researched local law enforcement practices in Yavapai County.

First Christian Church of Las Cruces invites you to attend a one day anti-racism training on Friday, Sept 13th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, at Monte Vista Christian Church.   April Johnson, Minister of Reconciliation for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and David Bell, Minister for Indigenous Justice with Disciples Home Missions, will be leading “The Stories We Carry”  – This training event is designed to guide participants in an introduction to the analysis of systemic racism.  

Church of the Beatitudes will host a Family Movie Watch Party on September 13th at 6:30 pm in Nelson Lounge (end of left hallway in Nelson Hall). This movie kicks off their fall spiritual enrichment exploring the themes of The Lion King. Grab a friend, your PJs, a pillow, blanket, favorite stuffed animal and a snack to share and come join them!

DUET needs volunteers!  Many isolated elders and homebound adults are without vital services such as transportation to doctor’s appointments and trips to the grocery store. Currently, there are 74 homebound adults waiting to be matched with volunteers with highest needs in south Scottsdale (85251 zip code) and south Glendale (85301 zip code). Join Encanto Community Church for four Fridays in September and October at 8 p.m. for a different movie screened every week outdoors on our lovely front lawn. We'll bring the popcorn and cold beverages, you bring your lawn chair or blanket. Admission is free, and as always, ALL are welcome! The tentative line-up for the movies is: Black Panther (Friday, September 20); Green Book (Friday, September 27); Lady and the Tramp (Friday, October 4), and Nightmare Before Christmas (Friday, October 11). Also, on two of the evenings, we’ll be serving a light dinner. Specifically, we’ll be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers on Friday, September 20; and we’ll be serving spaghetti on Friday, October 4, for Lady and the Tramp, of course. Come join us for a delightful evening of entertainment and great food!

On Sept 15th at 2 PM at Church of the Red Rocks, enjoy the solo handbell artistry of Christine D. Anderson.  With finesse, grace and dexterity, Christine's solo handbell artistry has thrilled audiences in 25 countries and 50 states, and her fans around the world will tell you that you'll never be the same after hearing and seeing Christine play.

On September 29th, Black Mountain UCC will recognize their Creation Celebration by planting a tree at the church!

Impromptu Fun is a way for Scottsdale UCC friends to join in a spontaneous activity. Previous "IF" Events have included attending a concert in the park, a special art exhibit, and a charity fundraiser. The sponsor of the event makes plans to attend and sends out the information via Constant Contact to all who have signed up to receive Impromptu Fun notices.
